The Blockchain Practitioners Association of the Philippines (BPAP), together with Maxmedia Enterprise and TESDA Regional Training Center-Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center Davao (RTC-KorPhil Davao), is completing development of a Micro-Credential Course in Fundamentals of Blockchain, targeting registration under TESDA's Unified TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System (UTPRAS).
The course is being developed as a collaborative initiative between RTC-KorPhil's DIT/DMAT Department and its industry partners: Maxmedia Enterprise, led by CEO Maximo Ginez III, and BPAP, represented by its President, Ferdie James Nervida. Additional contributions came from Rod Albores, CEO of Reverion Technologies; Uri Buenconsejo, a recognized expert in the Web3 and digital technology ecosystem in the Philippines; and Churchill Brezuela, CEO of DC Innovation, whose combined industry experience is intended to keep the course content current and aligned with real-world practice.
What the course covers
Once registered, the program will be delivered free of charge through the RTC-KorPhil Davao Learning Management System, under the Information and Communication Technology sector. The curriculum is organized to take learners from foundational concepts through applied practice:
- Blockchain history, principles, and core mechanisms, including hashing, decentralization, and consensus
- Practical tool setup using wallets and testnets, along with basic transaction and smart contract interactions
- DeFi, NFTs, real-world applications, security and forensics considerations, and emerging trends including AI and quantum computing
- A capstone project, such as a simple DApp, use-case proposal, or NFT/smart contract solution
- Career readiness under a "Learn and Earn" framework, along with basic risk management
Where things stand
The partners are currently finalizing course materials, producing original video lessons, and completing the documentation required for TESDA registration, with a target completion by the end of July. Registration and formal approval by TESDA remain pending, and the course will only be opened to learners once that process is complete.
For BPAP, the initiative reflects a continuing focus on turning blockchain education into recognized, accessible credentials, building on earlier work with DICT Region XI and TESDA on blockchain education partnerships in Mindanao.
We will share an update once TESDA registration is confirmed and enrollment opens.
